TGI and Versatile to Present an Educational Webinar Titled ‘Improving Efficiency and Safety of Food Distribution Systems by Extending ERP Software'

TGI announced an educational Webinar scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2008, at 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. This event is a collaborative session that is co-hosted with Versatile Systems Inc. and sponsored by Motorola and Zebra Technologies. This educational Webinar will review techniques for improving food distribution software efficiencies, increasing food safety, and improving FDA compliance via handheld computer solutions. Attendees will also learn how to extend the reach of their existing ERP software data to make it readily available to field sales and delivery personnel.

“In today’s economic environment, a distributor must take advantage of every opportunity to increase operational efficiencies and protect their market share.” says Andrew Lynch, Sr. V.P. for Versatile Systems. “Simply trying harder with current technologies isn’t working for most companies. This webinar will present concrete steps distributors can take to improve their processes, resulting in better customer service and reduced costs.”

“In addition to improving operational efficiencies, effectively managing food safety and FDA compliance are critical success factors for food processors and distributors.” says David Litzenberg, Vice President for TGI. “With the growing number of food-based product recalls, the ability to track through lot traceability the entire chain of custody from in-bound ingredients received to products produced, which are ultimately delivered through various channels to the consumers, has moved from a nice-to-have to a must-have capability. This Webinar will examine how companies can track their products from the field or production line to the store shelf. It will explore new technologies that make it possible for distributors to keep their costs low, while raising safety levels and protecting their customer base.”

“Greater efficiency and better safety compliance requires measures beyond the simple data collection systems of the past.” said Lynch. “Distributors have to look at their entire distribution system from order creation and order fulfillment to proof of delivery and billing. We’ll show attendees how integrating a mobile computing solution with their ERP system will provide the data driven business intelligence that enables better decisions to be made in the field.”

The Webinar is designed to educate business and functional executives, CFO's, project managers, and information technology professionals of food-based processors and distributors.
In addition to TGI and Versatile, Motorola, maker of Symbol ruggedized handheld computers, and Zebra Technologies, creators of a wide range of mobile printers, will sponsor the event, providing additional speakers. Motorola has agreed to give away a new MC75 handheld computer as a door prize to be drawn at the end of event.

This free online event with fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged.
